Did you know?

Did you know that InfoWest is a proud sponsor for the majority of Utah Triathlons? Over the past five years, InfoWest has been sponsoring numerous Triathlons throughout the state of Utah and Nevada. We’re glad to be able to give back to the triathlon community in any way we can.  It gives a few of us an excuse to get out of the office early now-and-again to train or race.

InfoWest is grateful to sponsor the races put on by TriUtah and BBSC Endurance Sports.  Check out their websites for races throughout the state of Utah and Nevada.

Late in 2008, InfoWest started sponsoring the regional Triathlete Newsletter published by TriHive. Visit the TriHive website for the latest buzz on all things Tri related, sign up for your free copy sent via mail or view the latest articles on the St. George Ironman.

This Saturday, the unofficial Utah Triathlon season-opener, the St. George Triathlon, will mark the beginning of the Utah Triathlon scene. With more athletes each and every year, it’s hard to find a race that isn’t better than last year.  As such, we just wanted to say “Thanks!” to the great community of avid Triathletes who push us to keep Tri-ing, the race directors who spend countless hours on every detail of their great races and the fans who cheer us on when we sometimes don’t feel like we can finish strong.

Tri hard. Tri often.

At our grand opening we will have a short program featuring two of our fantastic local Southern Utah leaders:  Washington County Economic Development Director Scott Hirschi and Mayor Dan McArthur. We’re excited to have them share their feelings about Southern Utah and the Internet. We will also have refreshments and let anyone that would like tour our new offices.

It’s an exciting time for us as “High-Tech InfoWest” meets “Historic Downtown”.

Webmail Improvements, IMAP, and other Upgrades

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since we have posted any new information on this little weblog of ours, but boy do we have news today! InfoWest has been hard at work making improvements to the new webmail system, and our mail server in general. Here’s an overview of what we have done:

  1. We have upgraded our server to support IMAP connections.
  2. We have added support for SMTP authentication to our Outbound mail server.
  3. We have added SSL encryption support for POP, IMAP and SMTP connections.
  4. We have changed the “New Webmail” system so that it now logs in via IMAP.

What do these changes mean for you, our customers? First, and most importantly these changes allow the New Webmail system to use folders, including a “Trash” folder. These changes also allow customers to securely connect to our mail servers, even when using a different ISP, or when traveling. The IMAP upgrade also allows InfoWest email to be used on Blackberry phones, and allows email to be “pushed” immediately from the server to customers’ email programs. The IMAP upgrade also allows customers to share one email address among multiple computers easier.

The methods used to set up SSL, IMAP, and SMTP authentication vary from program to program, so if you wish to use any of these features in your email program, please contact us for assistance.
