We recently upgraded all current InfoWest wireless Internet accounts to faster speeds. Depending on the service you subscribe to you will have faster uploads, or in some cases, up to double the download speed. Here are a few of the changes:
- Our basic rate 256k wireless is now twice as fast at 512k.
- 1.5 and 3 megabit speeds now all support 256k or higher upload speeds (was 100k in many areas).
- Business wireless now supports a minimum of 1megabit upload speeds, up from 256k.
- New lower-priced dedicated business speeds of 2 megabit and 6-7 megabit now available. Each boasts 1 megabit upload speed.
In addition, 6-7 megabit download service is available as an upgrade for both residential and business customers in many areas. For 6-7 megabit speed options and pricing, see our wireless web page for residential or business subscribers.
To support these higher speeds, we have moved much of our wireless backend systems over to new fiber-optic lines and faster microwave radios. More upgrades are under way!
The new speeds are available for new subscribers as well. Basic 512k wireless is twice as fast as basic DSL and costs much less. No phone line required. Call to schedule your upgrade today!

I have the standard wireless router that Infowest installed at hookup, a Buffalo (not sure of the speed). Is the standard wireless in the house fast enough to see the increase in the Infowest wireless connection to the house?
I think I’ve seen an increase, but I’m not sure, it’s running great.
Thanks Infowest!

Yes, the home router is actually quite a bit faster than any available home internet connection (cable, wireless or DSL) so you should see the difference.

Gee, I haven’t seen a change in mine; it is the same as it always has been, but faster than my last internet provider.

Yeah, definitely noticed a change. Before, my Xbox 360 downloads would go very slow, so slow that most downloads I did had to be overnight because it took so long. Now I’m able to download game demos etc. in about 30-45 minutes, thanks!
