For those of you who have never heard of Firefox®, it’s a free web browser that is published and maintained by the Mozilla Foundation.

Here at InfoWest, we love it; we think it’s the best browser around. It’s the only browser we use on our computers at the office. What makes it so good? It stops popups automatically, and doesn’t allow most spyware to get installed.

Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal had this to say:

We prefer to talk about the benefits of Firefox, rather than specifically bash Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (the big blue E icon). But there are so many holes, flaws, and vulnerabilities that it is simply unsafe to use Internet Explorer for general web surfing. Here is a detailed article from EWeek.com that explains in much better detail the problems with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.

The top reasons to use Mozilla® Firefox:

1. It stops popup windows.
2. It won’t allow most spyware to install. Most of the spyware targets only Internet Explorer. Since Firefox is programmed differently, the spyware just can’t get in.
3. It loads pages more quickly.

Personally, I hate change, and when I first installed Firefox it took some getting used to. I had to do things just a bit differently. Although at first it was a challenge, I can’t imagine ever using anything without the flexibility and features of Firefox. If you are switching, I would suggest this guide.

The best way to surf the Internet is with Firefox. Have you personally had your computer infested with viruses and popups? Do you know someone who has? The culprit with most infestations we’ve seen is Internet Explorer.
